For the current Ridley contest over at :iconmetroid-club:

Wanted to put together something simple, using Ridley's design from the first game's manual. I've always preferred this version to his boring pterodactyl design, much more unique and alien. But that's just me.

Well, definitely, he looks like an evolved form of the dragons in Norfair on the NES imho, but I think Nintendo changed Ridley to the whole Pterodactyl-esque form because the Omega Metroid from Metroid II also had similar designs (which could be seen from Metroid 4 as well...

Well, Ridley's design in-game looked more akin to his current design, the really bizarre one, the one I referenced was in the Manual for the game only, an artist's inaccurate, but unique interpretation.

MY personal opinion? The original Ridley with a touch of H.R. Giger's style would have proved how intimidating he was to young Samus.

Oh, there's no doubt how much Alien has influenced Metroid.

You know, now that you mention it, this version of Ridley is more unique and actually creepier. I like his dragon-esque design since it better conveys him as a cruel vicious bastard, but this version works better than I originally thought!

Nice job

While I like his design from Super Metroid, I think beyond that game he got more generic. Thanks! Glad you like it!
